You must choose a Daily Digital topic from your class that
was not yours and that no one else has already chosen -- therefore send me
your preferred choice by email -- include the name of the topic, who
presented it, and the date -- (to the appropriate class email address,
located at the bottom of the homepage) and INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND PERIOD in
the email, and I will reply with either an "OK" or a list of
already taken topics for you to avoid choosing as an alternative (and write
shorter sentences than this one).
Your paper should be between 3/4 of a page and 2 pages,
single-spaced. It should contain a very short summary, just so we both
understand what the issue is, and then 2 arguments: one in support of the
device/change/policy and one against.
I am interested in well-reasoned arguments, ones that
intelligent people can hold, on both sides. Please finish with your
opinion/side on the topic, and why you are not swayed by the opposite
arguments.
Feel free to talk to others in preparing the arguments --
but please cite those who have given you original ideas.
This will be graded on good writing, good non-trivial
arguments and good structure. The grade will replace your lowest
test score, if it's higher.
Due, no later than, Fri (6/14) midnight (this is a drop-dead date). Use any popular word-processing program you like (except for WordPerfect, which I cannot read)., though I prefer MSWord or OpenOffice or Google docs formats.
